Hi Peter
Today, Elvira Arellano presented herself at the U.S. Port of Entry in San Diego. She is asking for permission to come home. Elvira is asking for Parole, this means she could be denied and deported, on the spot. Sign this petition & call; let's bring Elvira home!
I don't know about you, but the news about Elvira Arellano coming home with the rest of the #Reform150 families has me all excited and unable to sleep. I remember watching her story on TV, and how in 2007 I still felt a little bit of fear saying I was undocumented, so watching her fighting so publicly was pretty awesome.
Then a few months later, ICE raided a factory a few blocks away from my school. I remember thinking "what's next?" or "who's next?". It felt like ICE was retaliating against those who spoke out. So, I personally feel like the fact that Elvira is coming home is a HUGE deal.
SIGN THE PETITION: Bring Elvira Arellano Home
Elvira should never have been deported. When she was deported President Obama, then an Illinois Senator, said: "I've met with Elvira Arellano and her son, and I understand the challenges that they and millions of other undocumented immigrants face. . . If President Bush cannot lead on this issue, I will, by reviving our national discussion on comprehensive reform in my first year in the White House."
Now, as President Obama enters his 6th year in office we still don't have leadership on this issue. The President's administration continues to deport 400,000 Elvira's every year. Elvira's struggle represents the larger fight for our families. If this President is serious, if he wants to show us he means business then he needs to bring Elvira home.
Sign the Petition to Bring Elvira Home: Will Obama Deport Elvira a Second Time?
Elvira has given thousands the hope to keep fighting. Today we stand by her, and ask that you take immediate action to bring Elvira Arellano home.
Thank you,
Lizbeth Mateo

P.S. We happened to get the cell phone numbers (619-371-0071 & 619-876-3693) of the ICE directors in San Diego, shoot them a quick text message: "Parole Elvira!"
