Twelve percent of the U.S. population (34 million people) are foreign born. From 2000 to 2007, the number of U.S. foreign-born citizens increased by 19.7 percent (6 million).

Immigration increases the U.S. GDP by $37 billion each year. Ninety percent of native-born workers experience wage gains from immigration, which total between $30 billion and $80 billion per year.
