Subject: [NetworkAztlan_News] DOMESTIC WORKERS CELEBRATE WOMEN'S DAY: Call for Passing the California Bill of Rights for Domestic Workers

(Forwarded message, edited)

Dear Friends:

I pledged a donation to the SEIU for the Wisconsin workers' fight to get their collective bargaining rights back.

I'm hoping you all will do the same.  (see below)

To my women friends,

please note that women comprise nearly half of all unionized workers and more than half of that half work in the public sector targeted by the Wisconsin Republican's bill...;

Losing labor rights will adversely affect the gains made by the women's movement for women's economic independence, as well as cripple the middle class-- which unions helped create through the struggle for just wages and decent work conditions.

Please help.

Below is the note from SEIU Political Director Brandon Davis.

And apologies for the impersonal character of this note.

The urgency is great.

Let's all push back against this attempt to return women workers to 18th century conditions.

cheers,

N...

A coalition of domestic workers' and other low wage workers' organizations celebrate Women's Day, and launch an effort to get the state of California to pass a bill of rights for domestic workers.

The California Domestic Worker Bill of Rights would provide domestic workers with:

* Equal overtime pay.

* Equal right to a safe and healthy workplace.

* Equal right to worker's compensation.

* Equal right to reporting time pay.

* Equal right to notice before termination.

* Right to 5 hours uninterrupted sleep under adequate conditions...

* Right to cook one's own food.

* Right to annual cost of living wage increase.

* Right to paid vacations.

* Right to paid sick days
